QF has awarded $500 for the launch of a new crisis-based program. Haley Hunt the program’s visionary, is a high school student intern with Voices for Children CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Hunt has leveraged her background as a former foster youth, to establish a new foster youth support group that will help those in need, feel safe and connected to others in similar circumstances. The support group will meet once a month to instill a sense of community through initiatives such as, self defense classes and art workshops. Funds will go towards the purchase of supplies and planning in preparation for a January, 2016 kickoff.
Thanks again for the effort and creativity that went into this quarter’s video submissions! If you weren’t selected for funding, we invite you to keep an eye on our focus areas and submit again soon.
